Ford Slashes Price of EcoSport, Starts at Rs 6.68 Lakh

The Ford EcoSport was one of the hottest compact SUVs when it hit the market. Today, Ford India has announced that it has slashed the prices of the EcoSport range. This move was perhaps expected since Maruti newly launched the Vitara Brezza at a starting price of Rs 6.99 lakh.

The EcoSport now starts at a price of Rs 6.68 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the petrol variant and Rs 7.28 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the diesel variant, down from Rs 7.22 lakh and 8.41 lakh, respectively.

“Ford EcoSport has always been recognised for its strong value proposition and this realignment further strengthens that proposition,” said Anurag Mehrotra, executive director Marketing, Sales and Service at Ford India. “With enhanced competitive edge across the entire Ford EcoSport petrol and diesel line-up, we are happy to extend the joy of owning India’s most loved compact SUV to many more customers and welcome them to the Ford family.”

The 1.5-liter TDCi diesel engine generates peak power of 100 PS (73.8 kW) and provides a fuel economy of 22.27 Km/l, while the 1.5L TiVCT petrol engine delivers 112 PS of power and fuel efficiency of 15.85 Km/L. 

The sub-4 metre compact SUV is also the first car in India to offer Ford’s voice-enabled in-car connectivity system, SYNC. This means you can operate your Bluetooth-enabled phone and USB devices, dial calls, read out text messages and browse and select music tracks via voice commands. In terms of safety equipment, the EcoSport will come with Ford’s Emergency Assistance system. This system enables the car to deliver a voice message directly to emergency operators in the event of an accident in which the airbags have been deployed or fuel pump shut-off is triggered.
