New Chevrolet Cruze Sedan Launched in India
General Motors CEO Mary Barra unveiled the 2nd generation Cruze in Detroit last year. The 2016 Cruze is one of Chevrolet’s best-selling cars around the world and has now been launched in India priced between Rs 14.68 lakh and Rs 17.81 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
John Cafaro, executive director, Chevrolet Design, says that the new design has been influenced by the 2014 Impala and the new Malibu, keeping the common style design. The new Cruze sports a dual port grille surrounded by LED headlamps. The new sedan is 68 mm longer and an inch shorter than the previous model. The change in height and length leads to a more spacious cabin. A 7-inch touch screen displays MyLink and Android Auto with an optional 8-inch screen for CarPlay.
In terms of safety, Chevrolet has deployed 10 air bags, a side blind zone alert, rear cross traffic alert, lane departure alert and forward collision alert in the new Cruze.
The car is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, which generates 165bhp of power and 380Nm of torque. GM India claims that the automatic transmission version of the new Chevrolet Cruze delivers fuel economy of 14.81 kmpl, while the manual variant delivers 17.9 kmpl.
