Volvo Brings Out the New SUV XC90 in India, Starting from Rs. 64.9 Lakh
Volvo, the Swedish car maker, unveiled the all-new SUV XC90 in India. The second-gen Volvo is launched at a starting price of Rs. 64.9 lakh for the Momentum trim, while the Inscription trim will cost buyers Rs. 77.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi without Octroi). One can pre-order both the versions starting today and they will be delivered in September 2015.
The Managing Director of Volvo Auto, India, Tomas Ernberg said at the launch, “The new XC90 marks the beginning of a new chapter for Volvo Cars, capturing its future design direction, incorporating its own range of new technologies and utilising its new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA).”
The new XC90 by Volvo is quite a looker. It boasts an unconventional grille coupled with T-shaped lights. Under the hood is a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder D5 diesel engine that churns out 225bhp and a whopping 470Nm torque. It sports an eight-speed automatic gearbox too.
The SUV is said to have the most luxurious interior in the Volvo badge. The gear-lever knob is made up of crystal glass and the start/stop button as well as volume controls are diamond-cut. The car is mostly soft leather and wood to indulge the occupants in complete luxury. Along with that, it packs two-step airbags, automatically adjusted front seat belts and an Intelligent Driver information system.
The Volvo XC90 will compete with the likes of Land Rover Discovery Sport, BMW X5, Land Cruiser Prado by Toyota and a few more.
