Meet Ariel Nomad, a Beastly Off-Roader with Sports Car DNA
Ariel Motors, Somerset-based manufacturer, who was the maker of Ariel Atom, has come up with its newest creation called Ariel Nomad. The new off-roader will be showcased at Autosport International, an annual four-day motor show held in Birmingham, UK.
The stripped down off-roader is explained as “Atom’s mucky brother” by the company. The new Nomad is an off-roader, with a higher ground clearance, a long travel suspension, a reinforced chassis, complex rollover suspension system and 15-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 235/70 tyres that help it stand apart from the crowd.
It features a steel ladder frame with full roll cage, long-travel suspension and weighs just 1,500 pounds. Powered by a 2.4-liter Honda four cylinder, this speedster is capable of 200PS of power. The engine is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, also provided by Honda.
The rear-wheel-drive was designed keeping high-speed runs through the desert in mind, but it is being developed for on road use as well. The release date has not yet been confirmed, but the pricing is expected to be under $50,000. Full details will be revealed on January 6th, so stay tuned.
