Ford Launches Three New Diesel Variants of Fiesta
Ford Fiesta has been the American automaker’s C-Segment fighter for quite some time now. What we now call the Ford Classic was the original Fiesta that came to India in 2004. It was a major success for the company during its entire run. Now, Ford has launched the facelift of its sedan, the Fiesta starting at Rs 7.69 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
First seen at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo in February, the Ford Fiesta facelift has been finally rolled out in the country. The company has discontinued the petrol version of the car and it has launched three diesel variants instead – Ambiente, Trend and Titanium, priced at Rs 7,69,000; Rs 8,55,720 and Rs 9,29,449, respectively.
Inside, Ford has smartened up the Fiesta’s interiors by using glass black plastic instead of the matte silver finish and a lighter shade of beige for the seats. However, the overall design of the interiors remain unchanged.
The new Ford Fiesta is powered by 1.5 litre diesel engine that churns out a maximum power output of 90bhp. The new Fiesta is also equipped with a keyless entry and start, airbags for the driver and front passenger, automatic headlamps and wipers and Ford’s latest multimedia system called SYNC. The Fiesta also sports AppLink, an extension of the SYNC interface which gets preinstalled apps to improve the overall ownership experience.
Against the existing model’s 23.5Km/l, the new model gives the mileage of 25.1Km/l, which makes it the second most fuel efficient vehicle in its league after the Honda City. However, Ford isn’t expecting Fiesta to do volumes close to other cars and is positioning it as a premium, niche offering in the C-segment.
