Cars to Expect at the Geneva Motor Show
We’re only a few weeks away from one of the biggest car shows in Europe. The Geneva Motor Show this year promises plenty of new car launches and some that have been hotly anticipated for a long time. Here’s a look at some of the most anticipated car launches at the Geneva Motor Show 2016.
Aston Martin DB11
Yes, this is one car that has to be at the top of any car launch list this year. The Aston Martin DB11 will finally be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show. The DB11 replaces the DB9 after 12 years in production. If you’re wondering where the DB10 went, you may have caught a good glimpse of it in the new James Bond flick, Spectre for which the DB10 was exclusively made.
The DB11 is said to come with a 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12 with at least 600bhp. Not much else is known about the DB11 in terms of specifications, features and looks. We have no leaked image revealing what the car looks like and can only have an idea of it from the DB10, which is said to have been made based on the DB11 design language.
Bugatti Chiron
Another one for supercar fans, the Bugatti Chiron is right up there with the DB11 as one of the most anticipated cars to launch at the Motor Show. The follow-up to the Veyron is said to be “the world’s most powerful, fastest, most luxurious and most exclusive production super sports car”, according to the company.
It is speculated that the Chiron will pack the same16.4-litre W16 engine as the Veyron but tuned to around 1,500bhp. Again, as is the case with he Aston Martin DB11, there are no official images of the Chiron. Early last month, Bugatti released a teaser of the Chiron under covers, but by the shape it looks like the Chiron could look a lot like the Bugatti Sport Grand Turismo concept that was revealed at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Porsche 718 Boxter
The Porsche 718 Boxter will be showcased for the first time at the Motor Show and will show the switch to turbocharged flat-four engines along with the Cayman. It will come with a 2.0-litre turbocharged flat-four with 296bhp. Pricing of the 718 Boxster start at £41,739, with first deliveries in spring.
Ferrari GT4C Lusso
The Ferrari GT4C Lusso will replace the outgoing FF as the brand’s luxury four-seat shooting brake option. The GT4C is a facelift and revised version of the FF. The minor changes on the GT4C’s exterior lie around the features like the rear taillight which will come in two each rather than a single found on the FF.
The headlamps also get a 488 GTB-inspired facelift which are mated to a new grille. Inside you get a brand new infotainment system. Coming down to what’s under the hood, the GT4C Lusso can generate power up to 680bhp and can touch 62mph in 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 208mph.
Skoda Vision S Concept
It’ll be a while before Skoda is ready with the production version of the Vision S. The Motor Show will, however, see a near-production ready concept which will give a glimpse of what to expect from the company.
The Vision S SUV is still a mystery in terms of specifications. There’s isn’t any concrete details as of now suffice it to say that the SUV will be a handsome, big seven-seater. The SUV will likely pack a host of Skoda’s ‘Simply Clever’ touches such as in-built umbrellas and useful luggage storage solutions.
