Hyundai Unveils Genesis G90 Flagship Sedan
Hyundai recently launched a new luxury brand called Genesis, named after the company’s first luxury sedan that came out in 2008. The carmaker said the “all-new global luxury brand will deliver ‘human-centered’ luxury through a range of new models that feature the highest standards of performance, design and innovation.” Following this, the company has now unveiled its first flagship sedan in the Genesis line – the G90.
The G90 or EQ900 is slated to launch in Korea in early 2016. It features a 3.8-litre V6 GDI engine which develops 310bhp and 395Nm. The range topping 5.0-litre V8 GDI engine develops 419bhp and 520Nm of torque. All engines are mated to eight-speed automatic transmission.
The G90 comes with the newly encrusted Genesis badge with a wing-like emblem on the crest-shaped grille and swept back LED headlamps. The exterior design features straight bold lines running across the length of the long hood and the roof that slopes towards the boot.
The interiors are set with leather upholstery and electrically adjustable seats for all four occupants and a three-zone climate control. Rear passengers get individual display screen apart from the central TFT screen in the front.
Genesis will operate as an individual global brand and will sell Genesis models in Korea, China, North America and Middle East to begin with. The luxury brand will then expand its horizon and include the European and Asian markets as well. Hyundai wants to push out at least 5 models by 2020. No word on whether the G90 will hit the Indian market. If it does come to India, you can expect the price tag to hover around Rs. 55 lakh.
