Volkswagen Expected to Bring 4 New Models to India Within the Next 2 Years
According to media reports the German automobile company, Volkswagen, is planning to launch at least 4 new cars in India in a period of 2 years.
These 4 new models will include a luxury hatchback, a premium sedan, a sports utility vehicle and a new import.
Volkswagen will target each car segment in an attempt to seep itself into all categories for competition. Currently lagging behind in the sub 4 metre category which is dominated by cars like Maruti Swift Dezire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and many more. The company will launch the Polo-based compact Saloon to compete with these cars.
The SUV segment will see the launch of the new Tiguan compact crossover that will only arrive around mid or late 2017.
The luxury segment will witness the Passat (B8) which is most likely to offer the 2.0 TDI diesel engine. According to reports, while the Tiguan and the Passat will be assembled locally, Volkswagen will also get one completely built import car. The import car will be the new Beetle which was introduced worldwide in 2012, but never made it to the Indian market. Along with these new cars from Volkswagen, car enthusiasts may also see a facelifted version of any of the current car running on the Indian roads.
Volkswagen received a sudden boost when they first launched their line up of cars in the country, but they failed to maintain that zest. It is now after some orientation that the company is going to give car lovers more options to pick from since Volkswagen has upheld its quality in their products.
