Hyundai ix25 Compact SUV Spied Testing in India; Expected to Arrive Soon
Hyundai launched the ix25 SUV worldwide in October 2014 and the car is currently up for display at the Shanghai Auto Show 2015. It was said that the SUV would set foot on Indian soil between the August-September period. Now, some photos confirm this report to be true.
Photos from Indian Autos Blog showed a heavily covered SUV being road-tested in Chennai. Because it was camouflaged heavily, not many details could be deciphered. This vehicle will be the second launch by the South Korean company in India and will be followed by the i20, most probably on 17th May. China is the only country where the ix25 is up for sale currently.
The car was first unveiled at the 2014 Chengdu Motor Show as a production car. Internationally, it is packed with a 1.6-litre or a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, capable of giving out 122.8bhp/150.7Nm and 158bhp/192Nm. India will most likely be receiving a 1.6-litre petrol-diesel variant and a 1.4-litre diesel variant. Hyundai may also offer a choice of choosing a 6-speed manual or an automatic unit.
The ix25 will be launched in India under a different name and with a few minor design changes. It has been codenamed to ‘GS’ for now. At launch, its price can be expected to be between Rs 7.5-10 lakh.
