New Skoda Superb Sketch revealed; Set to Feature a Sharper Design
Touted as the most upmarket car the brand has ever built, Skoda’s third generation Superb will be officially unveiled in February, though details have already emerged. This information has been backed by official sketches, giving us a good indication of what the new car will be like. Going by the sketches, which resemble concept more than production, Skoda Superb 2015 is set to feature an entirely revamped design. The car will looks slicker than its predecessor, with more interior room and better equipment on-board. The car will be based on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB architecture with a more refined luxury car look.
“It will be a younger, more youthful interpretation of luxury, and you will find the car has no compromises,”said Skoda’s Design Chief Joseph Kaban.
Upfront, the car sports a butterfly shaped grille along with a set of larger jewel-like headlamps. The car now looks more aggressive with sharp character lines running along the car, while flared alloy wheels adds to the whole sporty demeanor. In addition, a more sporty roof-line along with chrome edged windows gives a neat finish.
On the interiors, Skoda claims that the legroom is twice of what is available in the Insignia. In addition, the bootspace is now at 625 litres (with seats up) and 1,760 (seats down). Meanwhile, the tech inside has been spruced up as well. The new Superb is likely to sport a lot of gadgets found on VW’s new B8, such as a new gen infotainment system which will be compatible with Apple’s CarPlay. In addition, the car is expected to borrow the plug-in hybrid technology from the recently launched eight-generation VW Passat.
The new Skoda Superb is expected to feature similar set of TSI and TDI engines, the same 154bhp 1.4 litre TSI engine along with a 2.0 litre TDI engine. The car is expected to hit Indian roads by the end of 2015.
