Peppy New MINI Cooper Comes to India With 3-and 5-Door Variants
The highly anticipated 3-door and 5-door MINI has officially launched in India for Rs. 31.85 lakh and Rs. 35 lakh respectively. Both the prices are ex-showroom pan-India based and as of now, only the diesel engine option is available. The new MINI Cooper comes with a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder diesel engine that can churn out 114PS of power at 270Nm of torque output.
Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. BMW claims that the peppy hatchback can deliver an impressive fuel efficiency of about 21.15 kmpl. The new MINI has a slightly tweaked design but still emanates the brand’s hallmark image, while some major mechanical overhauls have been made including the BMW’s UKL front-wheel drive platform.
“We are in the beginning of a long-term growth story,” commented Philipp von Sahr, President of BMW Group India, on the MINI. Sahr said that the company is studying plans to assemble the model locally. The models will be available for sale starting Monday across its four exclusive outlets in the country, added BMW.
