Audi A3 Hatchback to Hit Indian Roads Next Year

The popular Audi A3 hatchback returns next year and will come loaded with the traditional diesel engine and the hatchback garb. This combo is responsible for more than half of all Audi A3 sales in the US. The German automobile giant currently has the A3 saloon on sale in India, which has managed to sell around 1,000 units of the car within a period of just 3 months of its launch. It is quite a phenomenal response.

As compared to its predecessors, the updated model will be front-wheel drive with a new 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel engine. The powerful machinery generates 150 horsepower and 320Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the petrol version of the hatchback will have a 1.8-litre TFSI turbo engine that can churn out 180bhp and 250Nm.

Like all A3 models, the Audi A3 hatchback will feature Audi’s first touch-sensitive MMI controller with picture navigation and support for high-speed 4G LTE data connection. We can expect the A3 to be priced on the same line as the A3 sedan, which is currently priced at Rs. 22.99 lakh. This will put the Audi A3 TDI in direct competition with Mercedes-Benz A-Class and BMW 1 Series.
