Volkswagen Brings Out the Polo GTI Facelift
Expanding its GTI offering, Volkswagen has unveiled Polo GTI facelift which features more power than ever before. The new Polo GTI looks like a younger and faster version of the Golf GTI. The new car has been given a brand new engine.
The new 1.8-litre TSI engine, that replaces the previous 1.4-liter turbo, is found in the likes of the Skoda Octavia and the Volkswagen Jetta. The four-cylinder unit is from the VW Group’s new EA888 engine family and it produces 190PS (187hp) and 320Nm (236 lb-ft), an increase of 10 horsepower and 70Nm (52 lb-ft) over the smaller displacement 1.4-liter turbo.
Design-wise, the GTI differentiates itself from the rest of the Polo range with its sporty front bumper, honeycomb grille, red accents and GTI badges. At the back, there’s a new rear bumper and a tailgate spoiler. The new GTI can be equipped with either a 6-speed manual or Volkswagen’s familiar DSG automatic gearbox, depending on the need of the customer.
The new Polo GTI will go on sale in Europe soon after its appearance at the Paris Motor Show. While, it is said that Volkswagen has no plans of launching the Polo GTI in India.
